Ivan Odhiambo
Growing up as a total orphan was a formidable challenge, but being the second-born in a family of six added even more weight to my responsibilities. I often wondered how I could assist my uncle in supporting my siblings and me.

My opportunity to join Ujima came right after I completed my high school education. It was a turning point in my life. During my time at Ujima, I acquired valuable skills in hospitality and employability, with one of the most significant sessions being on communication skills. This particular session played a crucial role in enhancing my ability to express myself effectively.

My internship at Rockwell Hotel, which I undertook during my time at Ujima, not only provided me with valuable experience but also led to permanent employment. I am proud to say that I continue to work there.

Ujima served as a crucial stepping stone for me. I am now saving towards my dream of attending an accountancy college because becoming an accountant has always been my aspiration.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Ujima Foundation for the opportunities it has given me, which have allowed me to overcome adversity and work toward my goals.
